The Call

Post by Rizion » 28 Aug 2017, 22:02

Henris Nox is the leader of the Ten Rings, a small gang of ten unique individuals who are looking to claim the throne of the underground in New Hope. Like many others under his employ, he is a former street combatant, a modern gladiator who cut a swath through the masses and obtained just enough clout and reputation to be known, but not enough to be considered a threat to the other Crime Lords of Earth. An accomplished fighter for sure, Henris has always tried to return New Hope back to the glory days of Sector 8, but the military might of the Earth Defense Forces have ever been more than resolute to make sure that they keep that dark, depressing past in the past.

But for Henris, the shiny coat of paint being smeared over his city was simply trying to cover up the smell. He saw a deeper root to the problem; those that want to change Sector 8 they don’t live in it. They want to take the dregs and the filth of the city and toss them aside to build a “better tomorrow” where metas reign as gods over the common folk and the government reaps the rewards of those on the bottom, struggling to get by. Nox had a vision: To see his home restored to what it really was, the scum floating adrift the surface of the ocean. It had its own beauty, but more than anything, it had -TRUTH-. The people he surrounded himself with, the other nine rings, each of them had their own reasons for following him. Some were crystal clear: they were wronged in the past and simply wanted revenge against all society. To be the leaders that were honest with their dishonesty and remove the lie that was “New Hope”. Others simply saw the rise to power as their salvation out of a life of mediocrity but the common denominator was Henris. He was the crux in which all of their hopes lie and that future; and that future was riding on this one phone call.

Alone in his main quarters, Henris wore his normal pin-striped shirt, tailored to his form so that his physique fit it flawlessly. He had his personal barber flown in from Abingdon and give his canary swallow cut fresh and clean. Needed to be just right. Everything needed to be perfect for this.

As customary to anytime he got serious, he rolled up his sleeves and sat in his towering, leather chair.

One deep breath.

Then he placed the call.

Finally it connected. Nox’s view screen was a flair of sunlight washing out his monitor and a screech of audio feedback. There were several voices all clamoring in the background and the picture slowly came into focus of a dark room with the faint silhouette of a shadow sitting out of frame as if the camera were resting on table on its side.

“Ahem. I take it you must be the ‘merchants’ down in the south regions-”

“It is unclear to how you have received this signal, but it is imperative that you lose this frequency at once.”

The signal kept cutting to static with the picture warping the colors in a steady rainbow. The voice was modulated, heavy and cut Nox off before he could even finish his opening sentence.

This caught him off guard, but Nox had been hard balled before. He would press on.

“I am the Leader of the Ten Rings and I think that my group and I could be of some assistance to Ven-

“They say that ignorance is bliss, Mr. Nox, but it will not keep you safe. We are not sure how you got this frequency, but we do know that it was childish of you to think that some teenage hackwork would keep us from tracking your location, finding out every bit of detail on you and your weak little gathering of misfits that you call an organization. Take pride in the fact that you even know that name, but also know that we know yours. Do not contact us again. Fade off into your sad pocket of forgotten history, or be utterly destroyed.”

~~Transmission Lost~~

There comes a time when one must put everything on the line. “Do-or-Die” and in those moments you want your best foot forward. Lead with your ace. But in every competition there are those who are victorious and the birth of their legend begins and there are also those who lose and their story ends. This was a tragic loss for Henris Nox.

ooh, this seems pretty spicy...

Rhevy is still stomping around New Hope and the Space Pirate's Heir will be returning there sooner rather than later. Is this meant to be something other people get involved in, or is this a Riz thing?

(not that there's anything wrong with the latter)
